Ha Giang

The Dong Van karst plateau is Vietnam's most dramatic limestone landscape, now part of Tuyen Quang province after the 2025 merger. Routes cross Ma Pi Leng pass, the 800 m-deep Tu San canyon, the Lung Cu flag tower and H'Mong and Lo Lo villages at 1,000–1,800 m. Terrain is dry, sun-exposed and short on water – carry a full 2 litres and respect the border zone. Buckwheat-flower season (October–November) is peak time.
