Da Lat is southern Vietnam's trail running capital: cool year-round, open pine forest around Tuyen Lam lake and the Lang Biang massif (2,167 m) right on the edge of town. The Dalat Ultra Trail draws more than 5,000 runners every March. Red basalt clay clings to shoes when wet; the dry season (November–April) brings sub-10 °C mornings and fierce midday sun.
