Cat Ba island (Hai Phong) pairs rainforest-covered limestone with emerald bays. Cat Ba National Park's 18 km trans-island trail reaches Viet Hai village – home of the critically endangered Cat Ba langur – and Ngu Lam peak's panoramic view. The sharp, wet 'cat's ear' karst is slippery; summer heat and humidity are brutal, so start before 8 am.
